...not counting that one that he had to release that Kara wrote. That song was crap. This one's good. It's also not his alone. The Script also released it, and they sound pretty much exactly the same.
That notwithstanding, I like it. Kris' voice is lovely, and I'm really excited about his album.

Lambert fans, calm down!

I guess it's really hard to accept that Kris Allen won over Adam Lambert for all the Glambert fans. I know, it was shocking. But sometimes this happens, people. Remember when Taylor Hicks won over Katharine McPhee? She was the front-runner all season, and that douchebag managed to pull out a win. So, really, chill out. Adam's not upset that he lost, and he's super supportive of Kris. It wasn't because people are "anti-gay", it wasn't because some local AT&T employees went to parties in Arkansas and gave away demo phones which could be used to text in votes. It was because of two simple things:
- Danny Gokey got voted out, and his voters were more likely to vote for Kris than Adam based on musical styles alone
- Kris had built a fanbase that rallied for him. I know I voted more the night before the finale than I had all season, even when I was voting for Matt and Kris combined each week.

AWESOME!!!
Everyone thought Adam had it in the bag, and then the greatest thing happened. This kid who wasn't even featured in the million audition episodes - normally a kiss of death for American Idol contestants - went on to win the whole fucking thing!
And he's fantastic. He's beautiful. His voice is gorgeous. He knows his way around creatively arranging songs. He's going to have a brilliant career.
I am so happy that Kris won. I can't wait to see what he does next.
He deserves it.
And that's not to say that Adam wasn't deserving, because throughout this season Adam has been a hell of a performer. I wish him all the luck in the world, and know that he'll have a huge career after all of this. But this goes to show no matter how we think the producers have rigged the competition, they haven't. No one, no one, expected Kris to beat Danny into the finals, and no one expected him to win.
Except his fans. Congratulations, Kris Allen. You're a fucking rock star.

There's nothing not to like about Kelly Clarkson
It's sad that all people are talking about is the fact that she's gained weight. It doesn't look bad on her, which is beside the point: the point being she's got a great voice and releases good little pop songs like this one.
Who's gonna be in the American Idol finale?

Kris Allen FTMFW
The quality of this video isn't great, but it's not about seeing, it's about hearing. Kris Allen is fucking brilliant.
So awesome. He better be in the finals.

Damn, Kris Allen is awesome
Once again, for the second week in a row, Kris Allen gave what I feel was the best performance on American Idol last night. He did a stripped down, Mraz-y version of "She Works Hard For The Money", and he did it brilliantly. I couldn't find a video that actually showed him performing, so this one (the audio of the performance) will have to do:
Also, that boy looks like this with his shirt off:
His wife is a lucky girl.

And tomorrow two go home...

Tonight is DISCO NIGHT on American Idol. Disco Night. Now, let me ask something: while I understand that the point of this show is to find someone who is "versatile", isn't it also to find someone who knows thyself and what type of "artist" they want to be? Then how in the world is DISCO NIGHT an appropriate theme? It's like last year with Andrew Lloyd Weber night. That was a night of torturous bullshittery.
This is gonna be baaaaaaad, y'all.

JASON CASTRO!

Jason Castro, my favorite goofball Idol contestant last year, has finally signed a record deal! Considering I downloaded almost all of his performances last year, chances are I'll be buying his CD. His voice is great, and he's just such a nice guy.
Idle Idol talk
Kris Allen was the only person to choose a current, moving song from a film on last night's Idol, and in my opinion he killed it, in a good way.
Everyone else chose the same shit we've been hearing year after year on this show, including what may be the two worst Bryan Adams songs ever (sorry, Matt and Anoop). Adam was Adam, again making my ears bleed, but at least he was ADAM about it. I appreciate his showmanship every week, even if I usually can't stand to listen to him. Kris and Adam were definitely the best of the night. And as much as I hate to say it, I think Matt will be in the bottom two again, but I think it's Lil's week to go. As pretty as The Rose is, it was, once again, boring. She needs to go back to her family, because an interesting performer she is not.
My fingers are crossed that Matt makes it through, and if he does land in the least voted for position, that the judges enact that Veto we've been hearing so much about all season.

Damn you, Adam Lambert
It's like he won't rest until I love him. He may have won me over with this performance, which you might have missed if you weren't watching it live or didn't record Fringe because American Idol ran 8 or so minutes long. And sure, he's just doing Gary Jules' Donnie Darko version of Mad World, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant.
He's still not my favorite - that title belongs to Matt - but when he isn't making my ears bleed, he's pretty fucking amazing.

Maybe they'll record this
I meant to post this the other day and I forgot. It's Carrie Underwood and David Cook doing an awesome cover of 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac.

Keep holding tight to those 15 minutes...

For real? Sanjaya is releasing a tell-all book about his time on American Idol? Who's going to buy this?

David Cook: still pretty awesome

David Cook has a new song streaming on AOL. At first I thought it was predictable and boring, but the more the song went on, the more I found myself liking it. His voice is great. Give it a listen here.

American Idol News

Now that Nigel Lythgoe, longtime producer of American Idol, has left, there seems to be some changes happening. The first one: A fourth judge. Is this necessary? Does this mean the shows will be even longer? Or that we'll hear less singing and more bullshitty commentary from the "authorities"?
I think it means my American Idol Fatigue will kick in much earlier than normal.

Congratulations David Cook!

My favorites never win this show. Ever. Even when we think it's a lock, like with Katharine McPhee, something crazy happens and Taylor Hicks wins. But not this year. Hottie David Cook took it, and I couldn't be happier (unless Jason Castro had won, of course).
But the best part of the night? Was when Donna Summer was performing with the Top 6 girls and Ryan Seacrest started "breakdancing". I have never laughed so hard. It might very well be the best moment in TV history. I want, instead of commercials, to see Ryan rolling around on the floor and jumping around like a goof. It made me love him more than I thought possible.
You can see it here, around 8:09 or so. You can fast forward to it. But you should watch Jason Castro sing 'Hallelujah' first.
And now I can put American Idol to rest for another seven months. It's been fun.

Oh, Jason Castro. I'll miss you, you beautiful little goofball
