I'm over Twilight...

...but not everyone else is, so here's the trailer for the sequel, New Moon.

How about no?

Hey, Zachary Levi? This facial hair thing you've got goin' on needs to stop. It's not a good look on you.

Or anyone, for that matter.

Ron's the best sidekick ever!

Rolling Stone has named Rupert Grint, a.k.a. Ron Weasley, as their Hot Sidekick of the year. As he should be. There's no one more loyal than Ron. (Except for that time he left Harry and Hermione in the forest, but that was because of the horcrux and if you don't know what I'm talking about, READ THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS! They're fantastic).

New Doctor Who companion revealed

I guess that rumor that Cassie from Skins (Hannah Murray) would be the new companion wasn't true after all, because today it was announced that it's this girl. She's cute, but she's no Cassie, and I'm already on the fence about continuing on without David Tennant.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'll watch because I love Doctor Who. I just love it most with Ten.

Adorable Kris Allen interview

And this:

Their bromance is adorable.

What in the world is this thing?!

A pygmy jerboa? A fictional animal? It's like a cross between a mouse and a bird!

I got my tickets!

That's right: I'm going to see Blink-182 in September with Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects and Asher Roth. You can't get me to stop smiling today, so don't even try.

Blink-182 "What's My Age Again?"

Fall Out Boy "I don't Care"

All American Rejects "Gives You Hell"

Asher Roth on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

I have no idea when this was, but it's funny.

Man, I can't wait for this show. It's going to be EPIC.

Daily Star Trek Post

Hey, Pine and Quinto, I'm serious: stop being so fucking cute.

Yes! Make it happen!

As soon as I saw the first episode of Dollhouse, I said that it was too bad that Summer Glau was on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles because she'd be so perfect on Dollhouse. And then T:TSCC was canceled. And now Joss is talking about finding a place for Summer on his show. SHINY!!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Hey American Fox, this is how you market Dollhouse

Australia got it right in this promo for Dollhouse. Maybe had the show been marketed this way here, more people would have tuned in. Hopefully Fox will figure this out before the next season starts.

Can't say it enough: I LOVE THIS CAST

Thanks a lot, JJ Abrams, for bringing these people into my life. I mean that both nicely and sarcastically. Star Trek is taking over my life dammit!

Buffy baby watch

Of course Sarah Michelle Gellar looks adorable pregnant. Would you expect anything less?

Ooh, this could be interesting

Katee Sackhoff was recently seen in a comic book store in LA buying a bunch of comics that feature the character Typhoid Mary. This MTV article speculates on what potential film she could be researching the character for. My hope is for the Deadpool movie. If she were to get that role, I think she and Ryan Reynolds would be pretty great together on screen.

Lambert fans, calm down!

I guess it's really hard to accept that Kris Allen won over Adam Lambert for all the Glambert fans. I know, it was shocking. But sometimes this happens, people. Remember when Taylor Hicks won over Katharine McPhee? She was the front-runner all season, and that douchebag managed to pull out a win. So, really, chill out. Adam's not upset that he lost, and he's super supportive of Kris. It wasn't because people are "anti-gay", it wasn't because some local AT&T employees went to parties in Arkansas and gave away demo phones which could be used to text in votes. It was because of two simple things:

  1. Danny Gokey got voted out, and his voters were more likely to vote for Kris than Adam based on musical styles alone
  2. Kris had built a fanbase that rallied for him. I know I voted more the night before the finale than I had all season, even when I was voting for Matt and Kris combined each week.
That's it. Let the kid have his win. Stop trying to take it away from him. He deserved it as much as Adam. And besides, it's a fucking talent show, people. They'll both make albums, they'll both either succeed or fail based on those albums, and that's it.

Back to our regular programming

Fucking Beastie Boys, man. Still and always fantastic. But what's the deal with Mike D? He's soooooooo skinny, he looks sickly.

I'd love to see them again. It's been way too long.

Brief political rant

What the fuck, California? Really. The Prop 8 ruling was upheld today in the CA Supreme Court, which I just can't wrap my head around. I don't get it. All human beings deserve the same rights. We are all equal, regardless of race, creed, sexuality. We all deserve to get married, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, have families, receive health insurance, support ourselves and our families, have abortions, ride the same public transportation, get divorced, adopt children, serve our countries, vote. I am appalled. Fucking disgusted. Incredibly disappointed. I will never understand the small mindedness of people. I will never understand prejudice. It's not our place to judge anyone for their sexuality, but it is our right to be able to love as we wish and marry who we want regardless of that sexuality. And I don't even want to get married! But it's a shame that I have the option to make that choice, but there are people who have it made for them.

All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. -Thomas Jefferson

BAD IDEA

You have got to be kidding me with this: A Buffy "reboot" is being talked about? Just because Star Trek was successful? This idea is stupid for so many reasons, the main one being THE MOVIE WAS A FLOP. The only reason Buffy as a brand was successful was because of Joss Whedon and his vision. To make another movie in that ridiculously campy Paul Reubens/Luke Perry-verse would be possibly one of the stupidest things to come out of Hollywood ever.

How cute are these two?

Love them.

Still in love with you guys...

...but seriously, Tom, what the hell is going on with this new singing style? I'm not loving it at all.

Maybe Mark should just sing everything?

Daily Eye Candy

I saw Terminator: Salvation today, and totally fell for this guy:

How much does Sam Worthington look like Ewan McGregor? They could be twins!

Friday, May 22, 2009

Adam Lambert, you are a doll.

Get this straight: I don't hate Adam, I just don't like his voice. He, as he proves in this press conference, is absolutely lovely. I want to drink a beer with him.

Don't you love Kris Allen?

He's gracious, articulate and adorable.

Jay Leno is as annoying as ever.

Fall Preview for Glee

I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE OF THIS SHOW!

I love you, Seth Green

Keep being awesome forever. XOXO.

Daily Eye Candy

This blog hasn't had nearly enough Zachary Levi in it. That needs to change.

Flash Forward

It looks cool, but it also looks like the type of show that'll get canceled after a few episodes because it's high concept, must watch each week TV. Remember The Nine? People didn't hang around for that long either.

What is my life coming to?

It's ANOTHER Star Trek related post. It's time for me to let go of old prejudices and embrace fully the fact that New!Trek is so awesome that I think about it more than I should, and crush over its cast more than I have over one cast since the Lord of the Rings.

Here's Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and John Cho being awesome.

Half-Blood Prince Official poster

Nice.

AWESOME!!!

Everyone thought Adam had it in the bag, and then the greatest thing happened. This kid who wasn't even featured in the million audition episodes - normally a kiss of death for American Idol contestants - went on to win the whole fucking thing!

And he's fantastic. He's beautiful. His voice is gorgeous. He knows his way around creatively arranging songs. He's going to have a brilliant career.
I am so happy that Kris won. I can't wait to see what he does next.
He deserves it.

And that's not to say that Adam wasn't deserving, because throughout this season Adam has been a hell of a performer. I wish him all the luck in the world, and know that he'll have a huge career after all of this. But this goes to show no matter how we think the producers have rigged the competition, they haven't. No one, no one, expected Kris to beat Danny into the finals, and no one expected him to win.

Except his fans. Congratulations, Kris Allen. You're a fucking rock star.

It made my heart swell three sizes

Last night Fox debuted the pilot for their new fall show, Glee. If you watch American Idol, then you've seen the commercials for months now. And, in general, I'm not much a fan of musical theater-y type things, so I wasn't sure I'd like this show.

Boy, was I wrong. It's fantastic. You can watch the pilot on Fox On Demand, and you should if you didn't see it last night. I can't wait for the season to start. This show is appointment television.

V trailer

The original scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. I wonder if this one will do the same.

More Blink

They sound a little rocky, but give 'em a break. They just got back together and haven't played live other than once last week in like 3 years.

Also, OMG.

So much love, man.

You know I'll be at this tour. September 29th!

Goddamn I love Blink-182.

Sherlock Holmes trailer

Looks fun.

That's not a microphone, it's a pen.

Will Ferrell hosted SNL this weekend, and with that Celebrity Jeopardy was brought back for what could be the last time. This was Darrell Hammond's last episode, something I didn't find out until after the show aired, and without him, these skits wouldn't be nearly as funny.

Surprise Tom Hanks was pretty awesome.

The Road trailer

I couldn't make it through this book, but I know a number of people who loved it. The movie looks interesting enough.

Atlanta is hoppin' lately

So, I move to Georgia, and suddenly* there are celebrities galore in Atlanta, and a strange and random multiple murder by a professor in the town where I live. And tornado watches. And crazy ass thunderstorms. And it snowed here a few weeks before I moved.

Relevant to this blog: Pearl Jam's bassist Jeff Ament was mugged leaving an Atlanta studio where the band is recording their next record. It sucks that he was mugged, that his passport, money and computer equipment was stolen, but...he ran. He's lucky he didn't get shot. Just give the muggers what they want and stay calm. One of my best friends was mugged at gunpoint a few months ago in St. Louis and even she knew better than to run.

Relevant to me: OMG Pearl Jam are in Georgia. I heart them.

*Maybe there are always lots of celebrities in Atlanta, but I never paid attention before because it wasn't relevant in proximity to me then.

Obligatory Chris Pine

There's nothing not to like about Kelly Clarkson

It's sad that all people are talking about is the fact that she's gained weight. It doesn't look bad on her, which is beside the point: the point being she's got a great voice and releases good little pop songs like this one.

Nine trailer

I'm not a huge fan of musicals, but I did enjoy Rob Marshall's Chicago more than I ever expected to, so I'm sure I'll give this one a try.

Plus, with a cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotilliard and Kate Hudson (I know, I never would've expected it either), it could be great. OK, fine, Penelope Cruz is in it too, but I try to ignore her whenever possible.

Twitter backlash is inevitable

And humorous.

Who's gonna be in the American Idol finale?

This guy.*
Daaaamn right.

*Oh, and Adam Lambert, who everyone knows is winning, but at least he'll be winning against a formidable opponent rather than Douchey Gokey.

I'm confused

Maxim released their Top 100 Sexiest Women this week, and Olivia Wilde is in the #1 spot.

And, yeah, Olivia Wilde is pretty but...is she really sexier than Megan Fox? Megan Fox is like the new Angelina Jolie as far as sexiness goes. She's ridiculous.

And the rest of the top 10:

3. Bar Refaeli
4. Malin Akerman
5. Mila Kunis
6. Eliza Dushku
7. Adriana Lima
8. Rihanna
9. Jordana Brewster
10. Jennifer Love Hewitt

Jennifer Love Hewitt?! For real? What's going on, Maxim?

Goddamn I love these guys

I've gotta admit: I have a crush on Andy Samberg. And Akiva and Jorma. I have a thing for cute, nerdy, funny guys.

Kris Allen FTMFW

The quality of this video isn't great, but it's not about seeing, it's about hearing. Kris Allen is fucking brilliant.

So awesome. He better be in the finals.

This girl did what so many of us wanted to

She made a mockery of her ten-year high school reunion.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Our President is rad.

The Killers on Letterman

And, for old time's sake...

Can you say exploitation?

Way to go, Yoko. Way to make people think you aren't an awful nightmare human being. Because including the bloody clothes your husband was murdered in for an exhibit in New York will really stop people from hating you.

TiMER trailer

I didn't expect to think this looked good based on the brief synopsis I'd read, but as it turns out, it looks pretty adorable.

Plus, I love Emma Caulfield.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

This is hilarious

SNL is always better with JT

And in some ways, so is Andy Samberg. Here's another brilliant digital short.

These skits were funny as well.

Cat Stevens vs. Coldplay

Cat Stevens is accusing Coldplay of plagiarism, claiming that Viva La Vida sounds like his song Foreigner Suite.

What do you think?

Wolverine sequels already in the works

Is it too soon? The movie just opened five days ago. But then again, this is how the movie industry runs things now. Instant gratification, instant sequels based on nothing other than executives drooling over potential fanboy money. The thing is, and I haven't seen Wolverine yet, from what I've heard from my comic book loving friends, the Wolverine movie isn't that great. However, I'm not a comic book purist and they are, so I'm still reserving judgment.

I still think it's fairly premature to announce a Wolverine sequel, along with several other X-Men related projects: Deadpool, another origin story starring Ryan Reynolds; Magneto, an origin story I'm guessing won't star Ian McKellan; and X-Men: First Class, which will be written by Josh Schwartz, the teenage/geek expert extroidenaire behind The OC, Gossip Girl and Chuck.

Regardless of how I feel about how the film industry runs things, I'll definitely see all of these movies. I might not be a purist, but I think that actually helps me enjoy the movies more. They're mindless, fun entertainment. Plus, an entire movie with Ryan Reynolds kicking ass? I'll take it. Now where's that Gambit movie?

For the record...

I don't think Stella is The Mother. I do, however, think she has something to do with how Ted meets his future baby mama.

Collecting thoughts around the interwebs today, it seems I'm not alone.

  • Michael Ausiello talked to Carter Bays today, here.
  • My dear friend Danielle gave her thoughts here.
  • Alan Sepinwall gave his thoughts here.
  • Zap 2 It has a very spoilery article here.
  • TV Squad has some thoughts here.
I could go on and on, but basically it's all adding up to the same thing, fan-wise. However, I'll always enjoy seeing Sarah Chalke popping up on the show. She's awesome.

RIP Dom DeLuise

Dom DeLuise died Monday in Los Angeles. I don't know why he sticks out from my childhood so much; I honestly can't remember a single thing he was in that I would have watched...but I have a faint recollection of him maybe on Scooby Doo. Though, he's in Blazing Saddles, which is one of my dad's favorite movies, so maybe that's it.

My thoughts are with his family.

Squirrel!

I can't wait to see this movie!

The return of the daily eye candy

Chris Pine. So pretty, it hurts.

Monday, May 4, 2009

Congrats Maggie and Peter!

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard got married after being together for 7 years. They're one of my favorite celeb couples.

Oh, Joel McHale. Does this mean you're leaving The Soup?!

Have I mentioned my intense love for Joel McHale? It exists. And now he's going to be on a sitcom on NBC. Hopefully it's funnier than Parks & Recreation, which despite the cast I just can't get into.

Here's the teaser:

Looks pretty great, actually.

Wait. Chester French is an AMERICAN band?

Why did I think they were from the U.K.?

That'll teach me to not actually read about bands I like after seeing their videos.

Alan Tudyk revealed his inner badass

And we LIKED IT. Here's an interview he did with Michael Ausiello about Alpha, beefing up, and his future on Dollhouse.

Oh, and Fox? GIVE DOLLHOUSE A SECOND SEASON.

Danielle will appreciate this

If you haven't been watching SNL, or, specifically if you didn't see the recent Seth Rogan episode, then this song might mean nothing to you. Or, you could download Lonely Island's CD and hear the song as it's used in this video.

Or you could just watch the video because it's funny.

Like A Boss, Supernatural Style.

I'll need to track down an issue of this magazine

Empire Magazine did a Goonies reunion for their 20th issue, getting the entire cast as well as Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner together for an interview. You can watch the video here. Corey Feldman is as obnoxious as ever; Josh Brolin and Kerri Green actually got to speak; and Sean Astin got to finish something he was trying to talk about on the DVD commentary but was interrupted by assface Feldman.

Just another essay on why you should watch Friday Night Lights

It's titled "Ladies Love Tim Riggins", which, yes, but goes on to explore much of why the show is so beloved despite low ratings. Are you still not watching? Well, catch up, and join in for seasons 4 and 5. It's the most realistic, beautiful show on TV ever, minus one mishap story line in season 2.

OMFG YES

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Gimme NOW, thanks.

The Hangover

Sorry about the lack of posts this week; I've been really sick. But I'm on the mend now, trying to catch up on what's been going on.

How about the trailer for The Hangover. Looks pretty funny.
