At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this cover Nada Surf did of "Enjoy the Silence". They changed it so much it's almost a completely different song. But the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

Now that's a protest song!
Jimmy Fallon wrote a protest song against the BP oil spill. It will get stuck in your head, trust me.

This is the second awesome Back to the Future thing I've seen this week
The events of November 12th 1955 from both perspectives (both BttF 1 & 2) at the same time. Thanks, Jenni, for posting it on Facebook.

More AV Club coolness
This time, it's another one of my favorite bands doing the cover. Here's Motion City Soundtrack doing 'Cut Your Hair' by Pavement.

These two should have their own show
Here's Titus Welliver and Mark Pelligrino once again doing something awesome and Lost-related. GIVE THEM THEIR ODD COUPLE SPIN OFF, DAMON AND CARLTON! We'll all watch! (Actually, that could be a really funny web-series, if done right).

One word: EPIC.
This fan-made promo for the Lost finale is better than anything ABC has managed to come up with all season.
I can't believe it's all going to be over next week. :(

Easy A trailer
It's been a while since there's been a decent teen/high school movie. Since...maybe Mean Girls?

Gaga and Bruce need to tour together
It's Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen and Elton John and Debbie Harry and Sting and Shirley Bassey and they're singing "Don't Stop Believin'" (which Journey should start publicly thanking Glee and karaoke bars for the resurgence of) and it's every bit as amazing as you'd think.

Connect Four Million
Thank you, Jimmy Kimmel, for being such a huge fan of Lost, and for creating little pieces of brilliance like this:
This made me laugh so hard. It's especially awesome that Mark Pellegrino and Titus Welliver were so game to spoof their characters and the show.

Here's American TV, fucking things up again.
Skins is a brilliant, realistic, gritty show about teens in Bristol, England. It's everything Gossip Girl wishes it could be, because they aren't scared in the UK to swear and be naked in prime time. It's far superior to Gossip Girl, and every teen-centric show here in the US, and should not be replicated on our shores.
And yet, that's exactly what MTV will be doing. It's going to be TERRIBLE, I can guarantee that. I mean, look at the shit MTV regularly puts out: The Hills, Jersey Shore, (I have to admit) The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat II, 16 and Pregnant...do I really need to go on? There's just no way this is going to be as quality a show as the original, and it saddens me that it could overshadow the version that deserves recognition. Just because the US version of The Office was a success doesn't mean that poaching from UK programming is a good idea as a rule. They enjoy our shows over there, and we can watch theirs on BBC America. Can't we just keep it that way?

Mind: blown.
No one actually still thinks the Lost writers are making things up as they go along, right? Because look at this:
In Season 2, Michael was given a list of names from Miss Klugh with the instructions to bring them to the leader of The Others, and in exchange he could have Walt, and get off the island.
And these four people, Hugo Reyes, Jack Shephard, Kate Austen and James Ford were brought to Ben.
Now, think about it. We all wondered why these four, and now, just three episodes from the end, they are the four of Jacob's candidates still alive. And until I remembered this, I was convinced that everyone other than Jack and UnLocke were going to die but now...I'm not so sure. The layers on this show, the planning, the mapping out...it's amazing. When Lost is finished, it will truly be the end of an era. I'll be impressed if there is ever a show as good as this one has been, even with Season 2's missteps and that whole Paulo and Nikki debacle.
