I do love the Golden Globes

I'm pretty happy about all of the wins. It would have been nice to see Neil Patrick Harris win, but as long as it wasn't Jeremy Piven again, I'm ok with it. Plus, Tom Wilkinson seemed really, genuinely surprised to win. Colin Farrell was lovely and gracious and so deserved that award. And, of course, my favorite, Kate Winslet. It's about time!

And, the other best thing of the night:

Ricky Gervais presenting an award, but really just being awesome.

Bring on the Oscars!!

Golden Globes Fashion, Part 3

The Dresses I Hated

OMG Renee. WTF? I know it's Carolina Herrera and all, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to (a) be pretty or (b) look good on you. And what the hell is going on with your hair?
I love Maggie Gyllenhaal. I love that she seems to march to the beat of her own drummer, fashion-wise. But blue leopard print at an awards show?
Did Marisa and Renee pick their outfits out together?
Trashy, J.Lo. Shiny gold, deep-v to the bellybutton dresses will always look trashy no matter how you try to class them up.
Ok. Everyone seems to love Eva Mendes' dress. And I don't exactly hate it, but that ruffle/bow/whatever in front is distracting and kinda pointless. Also, I hate turquoise jewelry.
I have never, not once, liked a dress that Cameron Diaz has chosen to wear to an awards show. This one isn't her worst, but it still made me wonder why she chose it.

I know I'm no one, and couldn't afford even part of any of these dresses, but...don't these women have stylists? I know Cameron does (and isn't it Rachel Zoe?).

Golden Globes Fashion, Part 2

These dresses are fine; beautiful, even. But they just didn't get any strong reaction out of me one way or the other.

The Ones That are Pretty and Typical

I might be leaning more towards dislike on this one, actually. She looks ridiculously skinny, and kinda goth, which Angelina did better when she won her Oscar.
Penelope Cruz always chooses pretty dresses, and looks great in them. I wish I liked her more.

People seem to either love or hate Olivia Wilde's dress. I'm stuck somewhere in the middle on it.
Love the color!
I like that this dress makes teeny Isla Fisher look like she could be tall, but I'm not sold on the color.
I had more of a negative reaction to Drew's Marilyn hair than the dress. The dress is kinda pretty.
I still don't know how I feel about Jenna Fischer's dress. I like that it's different, but...it almost feels like a spiffed up sundress.

I'm also bordering on disliking Blake Lively's dress. I don't like periwinkle, and I think it fits her in a weird way that makes her look chubby in places we know she isn't.
This is one of the most boring dresses I've ever seen Angelina in.
I really like the color of January Jones' dress, but I'm not sold on all the stuff going on in the front.
I love the deep purple and the beading, but that's all, really.
I wish Beyonce would wear a different style dress. She always wears these strapless, curve-hugging, slit up to the hip dresses, which, yes, look great on her. But it'd be nice to see her try something new.
Everyone loved this one. I...don't, really. And I hate her shoes.
It's pretty. It's...kind of typical.

Coming next: the ones I hated!

Golden Globes Fashion, Part 1

I was really busy yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to post anything about the Golden Globes, or anything else for that matter. So, better late than never, right?

The Dresses I Liked:

Laura Linney looks gorgeous in this color. I'm not a fan of yellow in general, and usually not a fan of yellow gowns at all, but it compliments her skin and hair so perfectly, and fits her so well that I found myself a little in love with it.
Another yellow gown. Though, I don't love Christina Applegate's as much as Laura Linney's. I do, however, think her necklace is fantastic.
Kate Winslet looked classy and beautiful. The dress, while sort of plain, worked so well on her body. Plus, I just love her.
I wasn't sure at first if I liked Evan Rachel Wood's dress, but after looking at it some more, I really do. It's sort of classic, sort of flapper-ish retro yet still modern...if that makes sense.
I just can't get over how this dress fits Eva Longoria. She looks incredible.
The color of this dress is phenomenal. I always love the dresses Mary Louise Parker chooses.
I not only love the dress, but I love her bold red lipstick and minimal jewelry. It all works on her.

Coming next: the dresses that were pretty, but didn't really pull any sort of strong reaction out of me.
