The Amazing Andrew Garfield

What better way to start my blog return than with this lovely, heartfelt speech that Andrew Garfield gave at Comic-Con this weekend:



The story is that he got in line for questions before the panel in costume, as a fan, with no one aware that he planned to do this. He is darling, and so incredibly gracious. For that, I hope this Spider-Man reboot is great.

FYI: if you haven't seen Never Let Me Go, you should. Not only is it an amazing movie, Mr. Garfield is just incredible in it. But prepare yourself: there will be tears.

I didn't even know that there was a Ghost Hunters panel at Comic-Con. But there was, and you can see it here.

Dollhouse at Comic-Con

God bless the internet. It used to be if you didn't go to Comic-Con, you basically relied on stories from people who did to find out what was said at the panels. Not anymore! And while I would have LOVED to be there myself, it's nice to still be able to listen to these people talk.

Too bad he's forever linked to the ridiculousness that is the Twilight fandom. Don't get me wrong, I've read the Twilight books and enjoyed them enough to finish all three despite my utter hatred for the protagonist, and I plan on reading the final installment (which comes out on August 2nd). But the fangirls are insane. INSANE. And so, missing out on the Twilight panel at Comic-Con might not have been a bad thing.

Ok, Comic-Con is over and I'll try to stop being bitter about it. My friend Sam and her boyfriend went for all four days and had a great time - all I've heard from them so far is that the Twilight panel was the stupidest thing ever, but screaming girls will make anything awful, and I'm sure the rest of the weekend was fantastic for them.

Moving on.

• SciFi.com has the entire Battlestar Galactica panel up here. Watch it while you can.
• TVSquad has a review of the Dr. Horrible/Joss Whedon panel here and this livejournal community has videos from it.
  
• Some videos from the Dollhouse panel, which included Joss, Eliza and Tahmoh. If you can watch these and not fall in love with Tahmoh, then you must not have a heart. Or eyes.
  
• This livejournal blogger has a really good account - with pictures - of all of the panels I would have gone to (and some I wouldn't have). Thursday. Friday. Saturday.
• There was a life-sized Dalek there. I will try not to cry.
• Maureen Ryan at the Chicago Tribune discusses Joss and Battlestar here.

I will try not to continue to bemoan the fact that I left CA and therefore missed seeing all these awesome people in one place. And awesome people I didn't mention because I couldn't find articles about them, like Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. San Diego was just a maelstrom of hot men this weekend.

Yes, I admit it: I'm upset that I'm not going to be at Comic-Con this weekend. Just about every geeky thing I love will be represented there, and here I am, across the country. No Robert Pattinson, Battlestar Galactica, Mark Wahlberg, Watchmen, Lost, Dollhouse, Buffy musical screening, Caprica, Chuck, or Heroes for me.

And my friend Darnell gave me this idea last night.



I'm totally jealous if any of you are going. And if you are, and you see Michael Trucco there, please, send him my way. (I have no idea if he's scheduled to appear, I just didn't mention him specifically before).

I want to gooooooooooooooooooooo!

Goddamn you, Comic-Con. Stop scheduling such awesome panels!

It's so tempting to find a way to fly back to CA for the weekend and go to this. But I'm sure I won't.
