The quality of this video isn't great, but it's not about seeing, it's about hearing. Kris Allen is fucking brilliant.
So awesome. He better be in the finals.

He is yay! But I am going to go out on a limb and disagree with the brilliant claim. You throw brilliant around easily on this blog. I know, I know, he has his 'artistry' thing going that everyone suddenly seems to think is brand new, that a million other cute guys with guitars have had too. His 'Heartless' was very, very good, but it's not the first time someone stripped a hip hop song and sang it all raw. And no, I don't think Adam Lambert is brilliant either. I like them both a lot. I just think this show has yet to actually uncover brilliance.
Heh, I do use that word a lot. I think I picked it up from my anglophile former roommate; it was totally part of her vernacular.
Maybe by 'brilliant' I mean 'shiny' or 'awesome'.
But I do think Kris' "Heartless" was quite possibly the best thing ever on American Idol. There have been highlights in the past - David Cook's "Hello" springs to mind - but for me, this one takes the cake. And yeah, I've heard 'stripped down hip hop', including The Fray's version of "Heartless", and I do tend to like those versions better than the actual ones, so maybe I'm biased. Ben Folds' "Bitches Ain't Shit" is ridiculous in it's awesomeness.
