I do miss the spectacular shoe shopping in LA, among many things. I mean, yeah, we have DSW here in Little Rhody, and there's always Newbury Street in Boston, but nothing really compares to Melrose Avenue.

Sure, Britney Spears' appearance on the excellent and under-appreciated How I Met Your Mother effectively boosted the ratings for the show (though I'd prefer to think it was because of the stellar and always funny Sarah Chalke), but is it really necessary to bring her back for another go-round? I mean, OK, she wasn't that bad, but she wasn't that good either. She was a pawn, and nothing more, to get people in front of their TVs watching this show. Which they should be doing anyway.

Am I right?

• In other news, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, arguably the funniest couple ever, are having a baby.
  
• It's weird that there's going to be a theater - as in theatre, not theatrical - version of Donnie Darko, right?
