January now, please.

Here's a nice little spoilery video from Kristin at E! with some of the cast of Friday Night Lights.

I'd like to watch my show now, please, thanks. :(

I could watch him talk all day. He's adorable.

Taking bets here.

Ryan Reynolds* and Scarlett Johansson got married this weekend in Canada. What do you think the over/under is on how long this marriage will last?

I really was going to post a clothed picture of him, but come on! Look at that stomach!

SNL does it again

They really can do no wrong with these political sketches.

Lost another good one

Paul Newman died. We all kinda knew it was coming based on rumors for the last few months, but damn does it make me sad.

Who you gonna call?

I'm not sure how I feel about another Ghostbusters sequel, especially after so much time (and a pretty awful sequel already made), but apparently some writers from The Office are involved and Bill Murray says he "would definitely be into" doing another one. If it's good, it could be GREAT, but if it's bad...

There isn't a Ryan Adams song I don't like.

Listen to the new Ryan Adams and The Cardinals song, Fix It, here. It's so good.

SMG to return to TV?

According to Variety and this EW report, Sarah Michelle Gellar may be returning to television soon. Rumor is she'll be filming a pilot for an HBO show called The Wonderful Maladys. I'd be nervous if it was a generic sitcom for a regular network, but it's HBO and possibly a dark comedy so I'm hopeful. HBO doesn't necessarily mean greatness, but it's a hell of a lot more likely than, say, a sitcom on Fox.

Thank you Matt Damon

LOL!

Brilliant

The cover of this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, making fun of that infamous New Yorker cover.

Another Pirates movie? Really?

I seemed to be the only person I knew that actually really liked Pirates of the Caribbean 3. I know it made a shit-ton of money though, which would explain the announcement that there will indeed be a fourth installment. Johnny Depp is on board. Nothing yet about Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley. As much as I love those movies, is it really necessary to beat a dead horse?

You know I'll be there opening weekend, though.

DUNDER MIFFLIN INFINITY!

How excited are you that The Office returns tonight? As excited as I am? You should be. Despite the less than stellar first half of last season, the show is still funnier than most sitcoms on TV, and I'm so happy it's back.

Here's John Krasinski talking to Kristin from E! Television:

On The Craig Ferguson show on Tuesday:

John "Muppet Face" Krasinski. Gotta love him.

Take that, iPhone

I was going to upgrade to the iPhone after Halloween, but then I read about this G1, made by Google, selling soon at a T-Mobile near you. And I think I want this more. Plus, at $179/2 year contract, I can totally afford it.

Read more about it here.

Everyone loves Harry Potter

MTV recently asked a bunch of celebrities while on the red carpet at the VMAs what they thought of Harry Potter in honor of the ten year anniversary of the first book's release. My girl Shirley Manson said this:

"I have two connections with 'Harry Potter.' One is that J.K. Rowling came from my city, Edinburgh. But more importantly, my dog, my rescue dog, is named after a character, a kind of being, in 'Harry Potter': Veela."

Which only makes me love her more. Read what other celebs had to say about Harry here.

David Cook: still pretty awesome

David Cook has a new song streaming on AOL. At first I thought it was predictable and boring, but the more the song went on, the more I found myself liking it. His voice is great. Give it a listen here.

Synecdoche, New York trailer

I love every movie that Charlie Kaufman has written, and this one looks like it won't disappoint.

President Roslin on Grey's Anatomy!

According to this report, Mary McDonnell will be guest starring on Grey's Anatomy this season. So I can add her to my list of which BSG cast members will be seen on which shows. I'm just happy they're all working (though I wasn't worried about Mary. She's always been amazing and recognized for it).

Because Mondays are so packed

If you're feeling the crunch on Mondays at 8 PM like I am, and dreading next week when Chuck is thrown into the mix, you can catch the premiere episode on Hulu this week. It doesn't solve the issue for the rest of the season, but it helps manage next week, at least.

Revolutionary Road trailer

The trailer for Revolutionary Road has been released. This movie could look like total shit and I'd see it for Kate and Leo. But it looks great, so that's a bonus.

Really?

Looks like The CW picked up the new 90210 for a full season. I have to ask why, though. I mean, the idea was nostalgic-y fun, casting Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty even more so, but the show SUCKS. It's really poorly written. It's really lame in a way that's not even worth sitting around making fun of it or turning it into a drinking game. I'd rather watch Prison Break, and I pretty much hate that show, but at least its unrealistic plot lines are funny to the viewer.

If you want good shows about teenagers in high school, watch Gossip Girl and Skins.

Villains

Heroes also starts up again tonight. It can't be worse than last season, right? And it's been getting some really good reviews. Personally, I'm excited to have two of my favorite villains back on tv:

Sylar

and Elle

For Muppet Michelle

Josh Groban singing TV theme songs at the Emmys. Guest appearance by Animal.

I heart Neil Patrick Harris

Guess what show starts tonight!!! That's right: How I Met Your Mother. If you aren't watching, you're really missing out.

Watch this season 3 recap:

Here's Neil Patrick Harris on Ellen's show last week. Beware, there's a scene at the beginning from, I assume, tonight's premiere episode, in case you're spoiler-free.
NPH on Ellen - madamotaku

He's adorable. And was totally robbed of that Emmy last night.

Emmy Fashion Roundup

Sadly, there weren't any fashion disasters at last night's Emmy ceremony. Because you know we all watch for the clothes, and when no one wears anything outlandish, there's nothing to laugh at. Certainly not the "jokes" during the ceremony.

Here are the dresses I liked best.
I have never coveted a dress more than I covet this one that Lisa Edelstein wore. It's perfection.

I don't actually care about this dress one way or the other as far as silhouette and tailoring goes, but I love love love the color on Mary-Louise Parker.

Elie Saab always makes gorgeous dresses, and even though I'm not a huge fan of the ballerina look, Marcia Cross wears the hell out of this dress.

Sandra Oh pretty much always wears dresses that I like. I think she's got great style.

The mermaid silhouette suits Kate Walsh well.

Evangeline Lilly. I don't normally like nude-colored clothes in general, but this dress is so pretty.

Damn you NBC

It's got nothing to do with the show other than how incredibly pretty it always is - and I don't just mean the cast. Friday Night Lights is the most beautifully shot show on television.

Promo for the next season, debuting on DirecTv before the rest of us get it on NBC in the spring.

Holy shit!

Travis Barker and DJ AM were critically injured in a plane crash yesterday. They are being treated for burns, while four people who were flying with them died in the crash. They were leaving South Carolina, where they had performed a free concert together as TRVSDJ-AM on Friday.

I hope they can recover. Fucking small plane crashes. I don't know why anyone still thinks it's a good idea to fly in them.

What's the point of watching then?

I do love Kelly Taylor, but she isn't enough to keep me too interested in the new 90210. It's really that bad, in case you didn't know. And now I read this:

Reporter: Now, the most recent 90210 episode had a reference to Dylan, does that mean that we'll see you there soon?
L.P.: They own the name and likeness.
Reporter: That’s a yes or no?
L.P.: That would be a no.

No Dylan McKay? I think I'm out. Show's going to be canceled anyway, I'm sure.

Well, it's about time.

I've been saying for a couple years now that Supernatural is a good show. I've talked it up to all my friends, and my family, and have managed to sway a couple of them into watching the show at least sometimes if not consistently. It's struggled with ratings from the very start, but has always had a strong enough fan base to not actually be as close to the cancel bubble as many of the fangirls seem to think each spring when all the new shows are being announced. Also, the ratings system is antiquated and inaccurate, we all know this. DVR viewings, downloads, both legal and illegal, and website airings need to be more heavily factored in for all shows, not just the "struggling" ones. I know every week I don't watch Supernatural when it's actually on. I don't think I watch anything besides baseball and football when it's actually on.

That being said, Supernatural's ratings for its Season 4 premiere was up 33% from its Season 3 premiere. It helps that it didn't have any competition from The Office, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy or CSI, most of which premiere next Thursday, but still. Thirty-three percent! I'm thinking quite a few people caught up over the summer with DVDs.

If you're not watching, you should. The show is really very good. Plus, just about everyone cast on it is absolutely gorgeous. And I don't just mean the two leads.

Daily Eye Candy

This is Misha Collins. He is recurring (I assume) on Supernatural this season. His face is phenomenal.

Well done, Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer casting. Well done.

It's Jensen Ackles, dumbasses.

Way to know your stuff, TV Guide Channel. Too bad you let me go instead of hiring me on as a producer's assistant like I wanted.

Revolutionary Road poster

Be still my heart. I love these two together.

Updated Zach and Miri poster

Because the US is so uptight, Kevin Smith came up with this for the poster for his new movie:

Girlcrush news.

While I think that much of the truncated Season 2 of Heroes sucked ass, there were a few highlights. One of those was my girlcrush Kristen Bell recurring as Elle, the girl who can shoot electricity from her hands. All I wanted last season was to see an Elle/Sylar fight. Maybe I'll get my wish this season, since Kristen will be on at least 13 episodes and will be given more depth and a back story.

Heroes returns with Volume 3: Villains next Monday at 9 PM/ 8 PM Central.

It's Emmy Week

Sarah Silverman won a Creative Arts Emmy for her "I'm Fucking Matt Damon" video! That's awesome.

In case you've been living under a rock, or just want to watch it again, here's the video:

Get it together, woman!

Amy Winehouse turned 25 today. Keith Richards looks younger than her. She looks about 70. I don't care how talented she might be, she's a fucking mess.

Whoa.

Hi, Ben Affleck. That's some hair you've got going on there.*

*It's for a movie role, but still. What a style choice.

My fingers are crossed

We may not have Brady for the rest of the season, but this is still the New England Patriots. Brady didn't win those 18 games last season on his own, just like he didn't lose the Superbowl alone.

Go Pats! Stomp the Jets!

OMG!

Next week on Saturday Night Live: JAMES FRANCO. That is just awesome.

I love you, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Did you miss the SNL premiere last night like I did? Well, have no fear. You can still see the cold open done by Tina Fey, as Sarah Palin, and Amy Poehler, as Hillary Clinton. Trust me, it's worth the watch.

Hilarious.

Ellen and Portia's wedding video

It looks like Ellen played this on her show, which I rarely get to see but enjoy when I do. I'm not one to get weepy over weddings, or overly excited about them in general, but I had to admit, this made me tear up a little.

I like them so much.

Battlestar news.

Battlestar Galactica actors are everywhere, as they should be. The show may be ending soon, but we'll still be able to see the familiar faces all over the TV.

  • Tricia Helfer, along with her guest appearances this season on Burn Notice, will be starring in her own Fox pilot called Inseparable.
  • Tahmoh Penikett will star on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, which shut down production this week due to some script doctoring being needed (and which is setting all the Fox-haters into a frenzy over the fate of this not-even-yet-seen show).
  • Grace Parks is currently on the AMC show The Cleaner with Benjamin Bratt.
  • Michael Trucco has filmed a sit-com pilot called The Man of Your Dreams for NBC.
  • Katee Sackoff recently signed on to a Dick Wolf produced drama called Lost and Found.
  • Jamie Bamber signed on to do Law & Order: UK, another Dick Wolf show, with Freema Agyeman from Doctor Who and Torchwood.
  • James Callis is apparently doing a Sci-Fi movie either called Merlin, or just where he plays Merlin, but there doesn't seem to be any info on it other than what he said at the DragonCon BSG panel recently.
  • And shooting started this week on the Edward James Olmos-directed BSG TV movie The Plan in Vancouver.

Ah, yes. The DUI curse continues.

Do you think Daniel Dae Kim's Jin will have survived that freighter explosion in the season finale of Lost? I don't, and here's why: Last October he was busted for a DUI. Come May, Jin's suddenly blown up. Coincidence? Not really. Every cast member who has been arrested for a DUI has been subsequently killed off on the show: Ana-Lucia, Libby, Eko, and now Jin. Daniel Dae Kim pled no contest and was fined and given community service.

Get it together, people! Haven't any of you learned yet?! There's only two seasons left of the show, and if you want to keep your jobs, I'd say stay out of the car after you've been drinking (which you should be doing anyway, jackasses). Hire a driver! Call a cab! You make thousands per episode, you can afford it!

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Um. WTF?

I don't know how Thom Browne is or how he became a legit fashion designer because this shit? Not fierce.

Maybe there's not supposed to be a such thing as 'male couture', which is what it seems this whole collection is attempting to be. And if there is, isn't there a way to do it so that your male models aren't wearing tutus, pants up to the armpits or netting over the face?

Those poor, poor boys.

Stellllllaaaaaaaaaa!

How I Met Your Mother comes back in a couple weeks - September 22nd, I think - and the spoilers/rumors are starting to come out. Ever since Sarah Chalke took the role as Stella, people have been trying to figure out if she's The Mother. I've read theories all summer. TV Guide has a blog post regarding casting that weighs heavily on Ted and Stella taking the plunge this season.

None of this means she's The Mother, though. Keep that in mind.

And anyway, I'm more interested in what's going to happen with Barney and Robin.

Barack the Vote, Alan Cumming!

Alan Cumming, who you might know from Circle of Friends, Rory and Michelle's High School Reunion, X2: The X-Men United, or if you're an indie film snob (like I've been known to slip into being) The Anniversary Party, is trying to become an American citizen in time to vote in the election in November. He believes in Obama that much. And I love him that much more for it.

This sounds awesome

James Franco will be taking a break from his grad school studies to star in an Alan Ginsburg bio-pic called Howl. Also awesome: It was also star Paul Rudd, Mary Louise Parker, David Strathairn, Alan Alda and Jeff Daniels.

First a Golden Globe for playing James Dean. Now maybe an Oscar for playing Ginsburg? Maybe not, but we can hope, right?

Who watched the Fringe premiere last night?

And how ridiculously awesome is it? JJ's done it again! A cousin to The X-Files and Alias, a step-sister to Lost, it's funny, creepy, gross, and smart with fantastic dialogue - mostly said by Mr. John Noble, mostly known by most people as Denethor in Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - and a great premise that takes it further away from those pesky X-Files comparisons and into its own category. Plus, a really cute cow!

Fox is rerunning it on Sunday if you missed it last night. Do yourselves a favor if that's the case and check it out. You won't be sorry.
